Coach Geoffrey 

Coach Geoffrey Nyabenda started basketball at the age of 12 at the academy of his hometown's professional basketball club in Ghent, Belgium. He played in the youth ranks from U14 to U21, of the National FIBA Division.  He first started coaching, U16 and U18  while finishing his studies, MA in Philosophy.  He later than established his own amateur University teams.

 

Coach Geoffrey moved to Senegal in 2008, where he started a basketball development program at the International School of Dakar, an American school, so that his son and his friends might learn the game. 

Soon thereafter, he joined the High and Middle School coaching staff, first as an assistant, then as Head coach, preparing the teams for the yearly West-African International Schools Athletic League Tournament.

Upon moving to New York, he discovered Born Leaders as the best team for his son to further develop as a player, and soon joined coach Kevin Miller's staff. Since the Fall of 2021, he has coached BLB 7th to 10th Grade teams.

Coach Devin

For the past eight years, Devin has been employed as a Special Education Co-Teacher with children grades 4/5th in The City School District of New Rochelle at Jefferson Elementary School. In this role, he assists in developing the interpersonal and academic skills of special needs children.  He aided in developing language skills, educational activities and conducting lessons in a small instructional setting.

 

 Since 2016, Devin has dedicated his time working with children at The House of Sports located in Ardsley, New York.  Devin coaches mainly basketball with kindergarten-8th grade in small group instructional classes in which leadership skills, individual skills, team unity and health socialization skills are enhanced. He also coaches in house basketball camps during the school breaks and individual private basketball lessons with kindergarten-6th grade. During the 2019-2020 season, Devin was the head coach of the 7th Grade Boys Tri-County Basketball team in Briarcliff Manor located in Westchester County, New York.

 

            Devin will be a part of the Born Leaders Basketball Family and will contribute discipline, patience and the joy of learning.

Coach 

Kevin R.

Coach Kevin R. has over 15 years of experience coaching and 9 years of training athletes of various skill levels. He is committed to creating a positive and encouraging environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the court. 

During his basketball career, Coach Kevin went Semi-pro with “Team Ravia Rebel” based out of Georgia and played for 3 years. As well as playing in FIBA tournaments in Canada. 

With previous roles such as Basketball Director and Coach at various levels and age range, he has successfully developed and implemented training programs that improved players’ skills and teamwork. He helped lead his players to championships, tournaments (both in and out of state), and college showcases. Coach Kevin was able to give back to the community while volunteering as Head Coach for Sound Shore Stars leading his team to a Special Olympics Championship. He also spearheaded a brand new basketball program at Charter School of Excellence leading the team to two-consecutive championships, bringing home their first state victory. Coach Kevin has a profound history coaching in Fairfield county schools such as Wilton middle school and Weston middle school. Currently, Coach Kevin is freshman head coach at St. Luke’s high school.
